The lightning rod is designed to generate an upward stream of ionized particles directed toward storm clouds, guiding the electrical discharge safely from its point of origin to the ground.
As atmospheric electrical potential increases before a lightning strike, a potential difference is created between the discharger, the air terminal tip, and the deflection system, which are connected to earth potential. This controlled difference enables the lightning rod to intercept and safely channel the discharge.
Understanding these electrical conditions allows the correct lightning rod model to be selected based on the specific characteristics of the structure being protected.
100% efficiency in lightning discharge capture
High level of structural and electrical protection
Guaranteed electrical continuity with no resistance to discharge conduction
No electronic components, ensuring maximum durability
Maintains original performance after each lightning strike
No replaceable parts required
No external power supply needed
Reliable operation in all weather and atmospheric conditions
The lightning rod capture terminal meets the following specifications:
Double ESE (Early Streamer Emission) system, including:
Early streamer emission device
Electro-atmospheric condenser
Atmospheric accelerator
Insulation system
External structure manufactured from stainless steel
Early Streamer Emission system made of stainless steel and epoxy resin
Designed for effective operation in all environments and weather conditions
For correct installation and optimal performance, the following conditions must be met:
The lightning rod tip must be installed at least 2 meters above the highest point of the structure to be protected
When mounted on a mast, a compatible head-mast adapter is required
All metallic structures within the protection zone must be bonded to ground and protected against surges
The lightning rod must be connected to the grounding system using a suitable conductor, routed externally whenever possible, following the shortest and straightest path
The grounding system resistance must not exceed 10 ohms to ensure rapid and effective dissipation of the lightning current
