What are UPAC and REC?
Buzzgo's Renewable Energy Community in Portugal
UPAC stands for Unidade de Pequena Produção (Small Power Production Unit).
It is a small renewable energy system — such as solar panels — *up to 1 megawatt *(MW) in size — that is connected to the public electricity grid in Portugal.
A UPAC can be used in two ways:
Self-consumption: The owner uses the electricity on-site (e.g., a farm powers its equipment).
Selling electricity: Extra power can be sold to the grid or shared with others through a *CER *.
CER stands for Comunidade de Energia Renovável (Renewable Energy Community).
It is a group of local people or organisations — such as residents, farmers, businesses, or a village council — who share clean energy from a nearby renewable source (like a solar farm).
The energy is produced locally (usually within 2 km) and shared fairly among members — without profit. The goal is local, clean, and affordable energy for everyone in the community.

Buzzgo Solutions
Benefits for the Community
Buzzgo’s 1 MW Comunidade de Energia Renovável (CER) model offers a proven, turnkey solution for municipalities, businesses, and residents in central Portugal to access clean, low-cost electricity with zero upfront investment.
By leveraging high-efficiency 730w bifacial panels, white stone ground cover, and optimized agrivoltaic design, the project delivers 1.78 GWh/year of generation — enabling 24% savings versus the grid tariff (€0.1824/kWh incl. IVA vs. €0.24/kWh incl IVA the present grid price).
